Tie -dye

I went to the Dye Hards meeting on Friday which is a group within Qld Spinners Weavers Dyers. We we doing colour wheel and then dyeing with procion dyes. Ended with a fun activity of t-shirt dyeing. Sort of tie dye

Drying on the line. It has come out a little lighter after a wash in the machine. I also dyed a wee mop cap for little Harriet . Up cycled from Emily’s childhood hat. Needs to have new elastic threaded around the head area.

Took some dye home and had enough for another t-shirt a singlet , a calico bag ang piece of cotton

Paper dolls

This is my workspace on the weekend. In the process of making paper dolls, which is a small online class by @themakerbeehive . Something to take my mind off what I feel I should be doing.

They are a mixture of painting, collage, assemblage and plenty of space for my own creativity. They need legs, feet, shoes as well as those little extras that will make them special. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Shoes and a few handbags, a hat, monkey toy and a dog on a lead cut out and ready to colour and attach.

Sarubobo

Today I couldn’t settle to work on anything ,feeling restless . So I spent a few minutes trying this wee Sarubobo . Used a piece of ecodyed handkerchief and a piece of indigo vintage fabric from Vietnam.

It’s very tiny, would make a good key chain attachment or on scissors. But feels lovely and comforting just resting in the palm of my hand.
Quickly and roughly made by hand , too small to get the machine out. I’m going to do some more, maybe make a few to go around a vessel sort of a take on those bright Chinese pincushions with the little sarubobo around the edges.

Brown paper prints

beautiful print on thin brown wrapping paper. Went in the pot with fabrics in bundles, eucalyptus leaves and onion skins. Also put in some iron water, which did not have much affect on the paper but wonderful dark prints on the fabric. I had collected these leaves in the Balmoral Park. As this park is on a hill with the Balmoral Cemetry on one side I never really choose to go up . It also has  council buildings , Meals on Wheels, a Kindergarten, playing fields, picnic area and is a really lovely place and the Bush has a few unofficial tracks and wild. Was so close and easy to walk to, peace amongst the traffic.
