I am enjoying this activity so much. I make sure I only do a little each day to have space for the year on the finite blank canvas for this work. This week it was the wee flower topiary tree in woven pot, Southern Cross for Australia Day but I feel the need to add some qualifying words here ( subversive stitch could well make their way on to this piece), Cretan stitch, semi circle wheel and star fillers.

1year of stitches day 18
Here is an update of my #1yearofstitches2017 . I have been looking up new stitches on Pinterest. So the little green chain in the bottom right corner and the little triangles below the blanket stitch are some of those I have saved . The little cross stitch 'snowflake' is very sweet and fun to stitch, I may put in some more cross stitch.
Beautiful to work on, trying to loosen up to make it look a bit wild and free, but keeps looking sweet.

Cat Flowers
Today I 'inherited ' the Japanese fabric from Chris Jones. Finally I have found a place to put two of these little cats that are cut from a larger piece. Will stitch down and embellish further.

1year of Stitches
I have joined an online group to work on a stitch a day for the year. No lesson just do your own thing but share. I will put on Facebook every Sunday. This is day 4 . It is done on a found table napkin from Vinnies. No pressure. All these were done with some thread that was cut already as left overs from another project again Vinnies threads.
So here is blanket stitch, chain, couching and.... can't think of its name ....fly stitch all joined up! to make a vine

Finished ...for now
Finished this little Bird King shrine I had been working on in an online follow along with Sara Lechner. There was to be doors but I don't want to put them on. Also I have a wee beaded lizard but he has gone walkabout so when he returns I will stitch him down into the lower right corner.

Orange
Thinking of the orange yellow pink piece from yesterday I took a photo of my orange display at my bedroom door. The piece on the left is the side panel over the door of a Toran I made in a group of six with each of the members making a part of it. This side panel was the bit I did to start so the group could see my colour and design preference for the finished piece. The macrame hanging on the right ,or bell pull, is one of two I made years ago and gave to my Aunt. When she passed away I reclaimed it. The little orange stick figure is a little totem I made. It is holding, keeping, items or tokens to represent things I find as treasure. I love the shadows created.
